Disaster! Jordan Fighting for his Life, Please HELP!
It should have been a simple routine amputation, yet tonight, Jordan is now fighting for his life and we need your help to save him :-/
Jordan was rescued from the hostile streets of Bulgaria, unable to use his very painful front leg due to a suspected fracture. X-Rays revealed no broken bones, just an old trauma to his leg and shoulder, probably from a car accident, that had injured the brachial plexus nerve, rendering his arthritic leg useless with muscles completely wasted away.
With no prospect of him ever being able to use his leg again, we decided to amputate his leg and free him once and for all from the massive pain he was in. The surgery went well last week, and post surgery Jordan was bright and cheerful, overjoyed to be finally pain free. But then 2 days ago, disaster struck. Jordan’s condition began to deteriorate, with increasing lethargy and no appetite. Confused, our vets ran some tests, which showed severe anaemia, consistent with the incubation of a Tick Borne Disease. An expensive IDEXX test was made and Jordan was immediately started on treatment for Erlichia Canis, a form of Tick Borne Disease, that causes life threatening anaemia, fever, anorexia and thrombocytopenia (decrease of platelets in blood).
We started to give artificial haemo and plasma transfusions, yet his condition worsened and his red blood cell count continued to decline to critical levels so last night we made an expensive blood transfusion from a donor dog.
And now we wait. We may need to do further emergency blood transfusions, yet with Jordan’s vet bill already at an alarming 780 euros, and with blood transfusions being 150 euros a time exhausting our emergency reserves, we simply don’t have the money to make that happen :-/

HI, my cat is in the process of recovering from being shot, and was found very close to death. He was found in the condition that you describe Jordan is in now, then had to endure a 3 hr operation(1 rear leg amputation, tail amp, suturing of a massive wound on his stomach and the lengthy process of cleaning the wound which was infested with maggots) Veterinary care alone, after that, was not enough. In the 2 days that he had gone missing he had lost so much blood that he was barely alive and very, very anaemic. How he made it home to us is a miracle. I am right into Natural therapies, and the following was recommended by by Naturo. A teaspoon of liver a day(cat), to increase his very low iron levels, force fed if necessary. Force feeding with him was done for 3 wks. Prior to that he was on a drip for a mth. Poultices of Comfrey(to reduce the inflammation radically, and a pure grade of Manuka honey(sucks out bacteria and infection like a sponge apparently). Arnica drops for the pain and rescue remedy drops. The recovery is nothing short of a miracle and has amazed the vets also. The Comfrey is crushed into a gel with a LITTLE water(an eye dropper full of the juice given down the throat. Manuka honey also once a day on the wounds as well as some down the throat.Takoda’s stomach wound was so big that the vet’s said it would open up during the healing process, of which it did. So much so, that the bone from the amputation site protruded thru one of the holes. This was O.K according to the vets but had to be kept clean. His bills to date $1500- Last Sunday he finally turned the corner so to speak, and is literally racing down the road to full recovery. Eating WELL and very mobile. All our love to Jordan, we shall be strong for him
